Travel for 2009 previous log is at Travel 2009 and to review last years trip got to Travel 2008 Laughlin, Nevada and onward to Utah After our stay at Lake Havasu, we started our trek home. We stopped in Laughlin, Nevada for three days. We camped across the river in Bullhead City, Arizona. Dave and Claire left Lake Havasu with us and stayed in Laughlin. While in Laughlin we went into a few of the casinos and did some shopping at the Outlet Stores. We also took a hike to some Indian petroglyphs, saw a rodeo and visited with Nancy’s cousin, Dolly and Dolly’s husband, Ralph. The Indian petroglyphs were found on a trail a few miles up the road from Laughlin, heading towards Las Vegas. We turned on a dirt road named Christmas Tree Pass.
The rodeo was very interesting. Although it was a very windy day we
stayed for all the events. The events included saddle bronc riding,
bull riding, steer wrestling, ladies barrel racing and a stunt show put
on by “The One-Armed Bandit & Co.”. The rodeo clowns provided
entertainments during the events, as well a drill team on women on
horses. The city of Laughlin was in the background.
We left Laughlin and
headed for Utah. As we got closer to the state line, the scenery began
to change with large hills of colorful rock. Near St. George, Utah we
went thru a narrow canyon that was surrounded by rock on both sides.
Very impressive!
