February Arizona
Adventures
February we
started out in Mesa
staying at Viewpoint Golf Resort. On the
4th of February, we met up with Steve M., Chris, Gary M. and
Linda. We took a few road trips during
the day with them. We enjoyed the
scenery on the Apache Trail drive so much, that we did it a second time with
Steve, Chris, Gary, and Linda. We also
went to Salt River Canyon which is on the way to Show Low, Arizona. Both drives are spectacular!
On the way we stopped at Tortilla Flats for lunch again. We couldn’t resist this picture stop.
This is a picture taken during the Apache Trail drive. It is near the top of the Superstition Mountains.

During this time our home base was in Florence, Arizona. We were surprised to learn that there are 5
prisons around the area. We stayed at Desert Gardens
R.V. Park. We found a nice restaurant to eat within
walking distance of the park. There was
a walking trail around the park, so some mornings we started our day with a
brisk walk around the park.
Sunsets in this park were very pretty!
After Florence we traveled to
another park named Tombstone
Territories. This park was near Tombstone.
Tombstone
is noted for the gunfight between Wyatt Earp and the Billy Clanton, Tom McLaury,
and Frank McLaury. It took place at the
O.K. Corral in 1881. The town now has
become a blend of a
tourist trap and a historical western town.

Gary and Jill met the group at Tombstone Territories. We took a group trip to Bisbee, Arizona.
It is a former mining town, which now has an artistic and a historical flavorl A few of us
decided to take a mining tour underground.
Chris and Steve had taken the tour before and recommended it as a sight
to see. It was very interesting,
although it was very cold once we got into the abandoned mine! We rode into the mine on a small train which
was an experience in itself.

the dynamite.
